Ministry suggests liberalization of diamond circulation in Russia
MOSCOW, May 18 (PRIME) -- The Finance Ministry is preparing a suggestion on liberalization of the circulation of rough and polished diamonds on the Russian market, Deputy Minister Alexei Moiseyev told reporters on Wednesday.
“It is obvious that ALROSA is in serious trouble, and we are looking into different options in this regard. So far, we have seen that the financial condition of the company is rather stable, and it is capable of seeking ways for selling its diamonds from the point of view of time and the reserve of financial strength,” he said.
“One of the initiative that we are working on is possible liberalization of the circulation regime for rough and polished diamonds on the internal market,” he said, pointing out that liberalization was connected to taxes as well.
The ministry submitted its suggestions to the government, which is yet to decide on the matter, Moiseyev said.
